martin, i've started to actually loooooooooove shogakkou. i really look forward to going in on fridays, and i always play with the ichi nenseis at lunch time. i do wish sometimes that i would teach at the koko level because it's easier to have a relationship with your kids when their level of english is that much higher.
I guess I am lucky that I can have simple conversations with my students, though they're usually along the lines of:
Me: "Hello, how are you", Kid: "I'm fine thank you and you" (stock answer) Me, mentally rolling my eyes: "what did you do at the weekend?" Kid: "nani?" Me: "Donichi, nani o shimashita ka" Kid: "Ooo, study, study!!"

Does that kid's t-shirt say "Cute and Lovely"? If not, it should.
I'm jealous those who teach the little uns. Had two classes this morning with high school kids who would rather have been in bed than in a lesson.
