soy...tofu...edamome...and-------->mood swings?

so i've been on this high-protien, low carb kick lately. just trying to reduce the amount of nutritionless, white sticky rice that i eat and eat more veggies and protien as a whole. so, my regular habit of eating tofu has increased rediculously. i'm talking i've been eating tofu three meals a day. mixing it with my eggs in the morning...it's usually always in the soup during lunch, and i've gotten very creative with my dinners. i add it to salads, soups, i slice it and use it as bread (tuna melt in the toaster oven yum yum). i fry it, bake it, mix it, toss it, marinate it, stuff it...everything. not to mention it comes in an incredible amount of shapes and sizes and textures here in japan. there's deep-fried tofu, firm tofu, soft tofu, salad tofu, chilli tofu, tofu dessert, dried tofu, frozen tofu.......a vegetarian's dream.
however.
tam mentioned lately that she'd heard that, after years and years of studies shouting of the positive benefits of soy - breast cancer prevention, etc etc - now there are new studies coming out which argue its' negative effects on your health...primarily on the brain (alzeimers), carsonogenic qualities (cancer), thyroid complications (weight gain etc) AND it's been associated with higher levels of estrogen (mood swings, etc).
so i'm thinking...
have i been a moody cow over the past couple of weeks partly due to my TOFU INTAKE?????
should i (gulp) give it up for a couple of weeks and see how i feel?
who knew...TOFU...the evil of all evils

true, Tam- tis indeed estrogen on this continent...
hey- definitely reduce (but not necessarily eliminate) your tofu intake... moderation is the key- as always- plus soya is the number 1 most genetically modified crop if i recall correctly.
