so last night i went to bed at about 7:30, thinking i'd probably wake up in the middle of the night. but no, i slept right till 7am this morning and now feel great. boy did i ever need it!
taught 4 classes today which is good to keep me busy and have my day go by faster. however, 3rd period i taught one of the worst 2-nensei classes i've ever had. i can't even begin to describe how horrible the students were. there were also 2 other teachers in the class at the same time to control them. and for the first time i saw one of them really lose her temper. glad it's not just me.
however, my other 3 classes went fine.
this is hilarious. got this email from kate today:
"random conversations from today (with JTES *JTEs are Japanese Teachers of English*):
"haha oh kate, i'm glad to see you safely return to japan, without suffereing from a tsunami!"
"hahaha!" " was there any snow there?" " i heard singapore looks just like japan, only dirtier dont you think so?" HAAAAAAAAAA THIS ONE CRACKS ME UP
'"JTE: do they have many rice fields in singapore? k: well i doubt it because it's all just one city, no countryside. JTE: ah. so which city did you stay in? k : in Singapore city. the whole country is just one city. JTE: I see, so which country is bigger, singapore or japan?""

I just had a 6-nen class of the dumbest fuckers ever.
My ichi-nens can count from 1-100 no probs....thee dumb asses couldnt get past. And today i lost my temper (didnt shout but it pissed me off), especially with this annoying FAT girl. Man she pisses me off every time i teach her. I cant even tell u why. she just sits there and annoys me.

funny but unbelieveable. reminds me of this time i came back from korea and my jtes had no idea why there are no old buildings and the koreans might have a problem with japan. as in they didn't know about the japanese occupation! but when you think about, how well educated are most people here anyway? sure they go through jhs and shs and many go to university but it's not like at home. jhs students learn little or nothing about the rest of the world, the same goes for shs, it's difficult to get into university here but then it's really,really easy once you're there. jhs kids can't fail even if they hand in a blank exam paper. the entire eductaion system trains them to be good japanese citizens which is great but doesn't really educate them about the ways of the world. plus teachers everywhere in the world (excluding us and any teachers amoung our friends and family, obviously!) are not exactly the most liberal of people anyway. that said we all know lots of cool, enlightened, intelligent, wonderful japanese people also.
