Irregardless of nationality- can you honestly tell me im making 'assumptions' in saying that other countries bash americans? You see it in the press every damn day! You KNOW americans get a hard time abroad, why the hell do so many Canadians, FOR EXAMPLE, feel the need to pin flags to their bags? Because people give americans shit. I'm not saying it's right, anyone who has a freaking brain cell knows it's not right to give people a hard time for something beyond their control (im talking government policies), but it bloody happens. It's a sad fact, and you bloody know that!

but...if youre begging for a couple of examples...:
i fully realize that half of the world hates bush, his administration, and everything that goes along with it. so unfortunately, to be associated with america, has become somewhat of a bad word lately.
if the 'america bashing' went only as far as criticizing their bush- forced set of values and ideology then so be it...and so it happens on a daily basis, (abroad, in the media, etc etc). i think when canadians pin a flag on their packs it's more to say "we're proud of what makes us intrinsically canadian - multicultural, accepting, liberal.." (as opposed to the BUSH enforced american values such as right wing, 'melting pot society', conservative...)
when i say the english bash the americans im talking about (and see im COMPLETELY stereotyping myself here)the often daily remarks about specific american traits (unchangeable) as in ie THEIR ACCENT, their lack of humour (NEVER as funny as the english) ...
in fairness the brits don't just discriminate against the americans! the irish get plenty of abuse at their hands also!and in truth, vice versa. as far as we're concerned it's all a bit of fun though, right? seriously, we all make racist comments and while we as educated,liberal, well traveled individuals mean no harm there are plenty out there who do. racism has many different forms. we happen to live in an extremely racist country but because it is not a violent racism we laugh it off or just put up coz we have such a good deal here all things considered.

and anyway it's a colonial superiority thing with the brits anyway! they can't help it!
