thai new year!
We pulled into Bangkok finally and had to get a tuk tuk to a guesthouse on koah san road, as due to the swarms of people, the bus wasn’t able to get close. We didn’t realize why, until we got closer and the crowds of people started dumping water and mud on us. By the time we got to koah san road we were all SOAKED. Luckily we found a place, as the city was ABSOLUTELY INSANE celebrating the thai new year’s. for the next 3 days, you couldn’t walk one foot without getting absolutely drenched in freezing cold water and mud. There were so many people on koah san road that it was just impossible to move. On the second day we just resigned ourselves to it, threw on our already soaking clothes, went outside, and joined the celebrations. Which was fun. But then I had to get to the airport. It took my over an hour just to be able to walk to the end of the block. In the end I had to take off my backpack and hold it high above my head (those kickboxing arms came in handy) and smush my way through the crowd until I got to the corner. I still had to walk another few blocks just to get to a road that wasn’t closed to traffic to hail a cab to the airport. Soaking wet and filled with mud from head to toe, I crawled into the cab. I changed clothing at the airport. And made my way back to Tokyo.
As always, sugoi tanoshikatta!!!
