today i love my students
in class today i did an activity with the students where they had to guess at different celebrities i had displayed on a projector. after, i assigned each group 1 celebrity and they had to write a list of things that described that person. to be cheeky i put myself as one, and this is what the group wrote:
-teacher
-cute
-pretty
-tall
-gold hair
-kind
-big eye
-beautiful
-interesting
-canadian
-small face
-long foot
-loved by Daichi (group member)
-loved by Takechan
-loved by Azuma
-loved by Miyamura
-loved by Mariami
-loved by Kaori
-loved by Chihiro
-loved by everyone
ISN'T THAT WONDERFUL??????

Esther's mum:
I like the LONG FOOT!
Justine - I reminisced about Arthur St. North with Tyler today - remember Tyler? We share trips to and from the UofT campus at Erindale.
tyler - did he used to babysit us when we were kids? i seem to remember a 'tyler' who used to babysit us, and i used to play with his bracelets
its like a song...
yeah, we love you too :-)
"play with his bracelets" gives me a creepy feeling inside, then again, after our boy babysitter showed us his penis while we were taking a bath, the mere mention of the phrase boy babysitter gives me the ICK.
Justine i think if i had to make a list of words
about you i'd say:
-rock-star hair
-bold
-hilarious
-indecisive (VERY think of the extreme panic that ensues when you have to decide anything spur of the moment)
-intelligent
-frugal
-tough
-sweet
-good driver
-photogirl
Kitty-chan,
-rowdy
-adorable
-yellow
-out-fucking-rageously-funny
-crazy
-compulsive
-frantic (in reference to the freak out over wher you have put your
key, camera, wallet, hair band...nani,nani, you name it, you have thought that you lost it in my presence. still i manage to find it endearing)
-intelligent
-wholeheared and sincere

im coming...over....NOW
Esther's Mum - yes, that's the Tyler, son of Jerry and Casey on Derry St. I'll ask him about his bracelets. His wife is doing research at UofT, Est, on fluoride water contamination in India and complains about her supervisor... You probably know him. Small world. I said you did waste management. Tyler did some research on waste management - the language used.
n-chan, yes, those chips were totemo oishii desu!!! i'm dreaming of them at the moment as i sit at my desk at nakaura shogakko, knowing that they'll probably serve me natto for lunch. i've gotten it 3x at shogakko, and each the time the teachers give a little chuckle and say, "justine sensei, natto - daijobu desu ka?" and i squirm a little in my seat and say, "uhhhh...iie. natto wa daijobu arimasen". i'm sure they get the point. and i even try to go at it with a clean slate. i don't work myself up, i calmly pry open that styrofoam box, squirt that mustard-sauce onto in, and start a mixin' away with my chopsticks. i ignore the foul smell of rotting soybeans, and the snot-like consistency as i twirl those little brown bits with my hashi. i then calmly bring a portion up to and into my mouth, start chomping away...
then can barely swallow the crap before i get that 'i'm going to lose my lunch' feeling creeping up my throat. i've decided, never again. natto. what a strange invention.
