sado rehearsal

so, grumbling and groaning saturday morning, we took the 9:30am ferry to sado island for the JUNGLE BOOK rehearsal. grey skies and cold rain turned to bright sunshine by the time we got there, which lifted my spirits a bit.
the wolves will be doing our starring number to micheal jackson's 'thriller', thanks to an ingenious idea from lopaka. we'll even be learning the thriller dance. kakoii, ne?
other songs include: greenday's basket case, we will rock you when the wolves and elephants are plotting against the monkeys to find mowglie, and the last battle scene will be the number kung fu fighting. reminds me of last year's final battle scene to eye of the tiger. hmmm...
back to the mainland last night, to the cold and rain.
woke up to very unpleasant dreams this morning.
hmmm...was supposed to be teaching 3rd period (or so i thought), but the JTE hasn't shown up yet. interesting.
how i feel: cold. wishing this day were over. annoyed with my kids (after just having taught a bad 2-nensei class). hungry.
hopefully i'll feel better by the end of the day.

you wingey bitches! Let's do something this week to lift the spirits. I know, nobody has any money. But we're imaginative people. How about Yamagata, Zao mountain, this weekend? Beautiful crator, delicious ramen and nice hot onsen?
Kat - coughing blood????? Daijobu?

A viable non-spending alternative;

Monkey Hunting in the moutains of Shibata.

I did it once with Joe, we went equipped with Bananas and spears (sticks actually). we didnt catch or see any but we did stumble upon some cows (Kat, before you ask i DID NOT start praying).

Though i have seen them. Lets Shimashou it.

Kat- so i suppose it wouldnt be a good time now to ask you for the money you owe me (and my black hoody).

I too am on he verge of death... I cannot actually function in this weather... My body honestly shuts down... As I was writing this my JTE just gave me the next class off cause she said I was typing this shaking as if I was going to die... Nice lady... Luckily I have been learning different ways to say how you think something will occur in Japanese and thus I have had many oppurtunities to practise my new winter phrase... 寒くて死にそうだ!(samukuteshinisouda)- It is so cold I feel as if I may die! One question though for team 1st world... Do people spank their children in your countries? I just read an article about it and realised I have no idea what the deal with this is outside of South Africa...

Yeah me too... I remember pissing off my dad and getting bent over the knee in public when I was a kid... I also remember my mom belting me across the face the last time I EVER hit my sister... And so did everybody I knew but in this article they acted like the consensus in England and America/Canada is that it is unacceptable and verging on illegal... Regardless of whether is righ or wrong, is that just one article`s opinion or is that the way it sits around the world?

hitting your kids:
i think in canada some people still do it to a degree...spanking and what not. however, obviously it is far less accepten than it used to be say...30 years ago. if a random onlooker witnesses a mother or father spank his or her kid in the grocery store or park or something, there will probably be some stares. one would probably think, "wow. i can't believe that mother/father has the gall to spank her/his kid in front of everyone..."
"Canadian parents are allowed to use mild corporal punishment during the disciplining of their children. The dividing line between allowable violence and criminal abuse is defined in Section 43 of the Criminal Code. This law applies throughout Canada" i figure it's the same for most western (and first world) countries, no?

Oh yeah, i always got a smack for playing up, and i will almost definitely slap my kids if they do too. Obviously there's a line, and of course people will judge should you choose to do that in public.

Im not sure about the 'general concensus' in the UK as such, since it's not a topic i discuss on a regular basis. But like J said, im pretty sure these days people are less willing to physically punish their kids.

It's all about couselling kids through words and the like, say for example, let's punish child murderers by giving them a new identity, a new life, teh oportunity to get as many academic qualifications as they please, and then setting them free back into society so they can assimilate and lead a perfectly normal life.

good stuff

but im going off the topic arent i?

Shit; i forgot about Hanuman.

Let me re`phrase. Monkey sightseeing!!! HUnting was a poor choice of a word.

Kat; You always talk out of cold ass whenever you enter my apartment and go off on about the sacred pictures i have on my wall. It doesnt bother me cos you are ignorant of my faith. I dont hate you for it. No-one i know does it but whether you do it cos your trying to be funny or cos you dont understand i dont know.

You once made a ridiculous comment about Lakshmi and her hands. I no you aint no HINDU but she is in fact the Goddess of WEALTH.

I call it irony.

Section 43. "Every parent or person standing in the place of a parent is justified in using force by way of correction toward a pupil or child, as the case may be, who is under his care, if the force does not exceed what is reasonable under the circumstances." [R.S. c.C-34, s.43.]
though..."what is reasonable under the circumstances" is obviously very ambiguous...
kat and hit, you're warring it out on my blog. i'm not going to tell you to stop...i find it very entertaining. dozo dozo.
