i suck at push-ups
last week my kickboxing sensei was in tokyo for a fight. i hadn't seen him since, until last night in class. he hobbled in on a cane and with a bloody eyeball. he was explaining what had happened in the fight but it was difficult for me to understand. i think his opponant kicked him sideways, twisting his knee or something. yikes.
the last thing we did last night was the 8 of us on the ground in push-up stance, in a circle facing each other. the first person would count "ichi, ni, san, shi, go" while all of us do 5 push-ups and then count to five for a rest. we went around the circle like that for what seemed like AGES. i'm not sure why exactly, but i've never been good at doing push-ups. i suppose because although i've got decent upper-body strenght, my biceps SUCK. they are my weakest muscles. and i weigh a LOT so i guess this discrepanccy makes it difficult. i think i've got to invest in some decent weights and work on my biceps. i finally had to put my knees down, but because i was dripping with sweat, my knees kept slipping on the floor. lovely mental image, i know.
we were practicing combinations with jab/one-two/hook, upper, straight, and left and right middle kick. it was a good way to get used to using the combinations together.
i was getting changed after and one of the girls who i take the class with 2 days a week came in and said "justine san. nice body!". haha. the japanese humour cracks me up sometimes.
tonight a bunch of us are heading over to glen's house for dinner. so happy it's friday and i get to see some peeps i haven't caught up with in a while. :)
