akatani shogakkou

on monday i went to teach my last day at elementary school. incidentally, it also happened to be my first and last visit to akatani elementary school, about 15 km outside of shibata, into the mountains.
as more and more people move into the city, there are less families with young kids and now this elementary school (which is full-sized, and rather huge) only has 9 students from second to 5th grade, and most of them are brothers and sisters.
they've got a principal, vp, and a teacher for each grade (so there are only 1-2 students per teacher).
i taught them all together 3rd period and it was a lot of fun. all the other teacher's were present as well. after class we all had lunch together around a big table in the lunch room. then we played dodgeball in the huge gym during the lunch break.
