hey keito, thought i'd sent that in the email, soz.
usually i'm always on msn all day but lately i've actually been busy at work...
last time i did 120kms the whole way and stopped 3 times, for gas, and coffee ect (2x about 10 minutes, 1x about 30 minutes) and altogether it took me just under six hours. i figure if we leave by 3 we'll roll in around 9ish.
tolls were just over Y9,000 each way and gas was approximately Y5,000 - Y6,000 each way...
...so for both ways split between the 5 of us i'm guessing it's going to be about Y5,000-Y6,000 total.
3 days! yeah can't wait!

oops! sorry, keito! i just re-read that and realized i'm an idiot.
there is a special expo bus which runs between niigata and nagoya (it's a niigata company which offers it). it's a special deal and only operates on weekends. it leaves niigata bandai bus centre at 10pm on friday night, and arrives in nagoya at 7:30 saturday morning. the bus from nagoya to niigata either leaves sunday at 4pm (arriving at about 10:30), or it leaves at about 10pm and arrives at niigata at about 6am monday morning. the cost is only Y6,000 each way with is a huge savings compared to the regular bus/train of which i don't have any information. however, this bus might not be offered after a certain date in july for some reason, you'll have to double check if they're going to continue it. otherwise the train is a nightmare from niigata - you have to go to toyama first then you miss the connection if you get the last one, the whole process takes ages. then of course there's the shink but it doesn't go directly to nagoya, the tracks only go via tokyo so it's 2 hours to tokyo then another 2 hours from tokyo to nagoya...and it costs Y18,000 each way!!! hope this helps xo
