the weeks pass like the streets of san francisco. the uphill climb toward friday and then the crashing descent of the weekend. the responsibilities and the obligations of the weekdays versus the freedom and fun of a saturday or sunday.
several things have been on my mind lately which has made these past few days a bit more difficult than usual. but i'm slowly working through these thoughts and i think that i just need to tell my brain to relax sometimes. it takes a lot out of me...worrying about things that at this point i have absolutely no control over.
the ben harper concert in odaiba saturday night was absolutely incredible. he was just so full of energy and he gave his audience a perfect mix of upbeat, energetic, full-band performances, as well as some chill-out tunes in the middle.
after the first set the band left the stage and the audience screamed and cheered and clapped for a solid 15 minutes when ben came back on stage, solo, with just his slide guitar. he sat right up front and sang 4 or 5 of his most sweet, dulcet (and favourites of mine) songs. the audience went absolutely silent and the lights were dimmed except for ben and his guitar. the energy spiked again when bongo-man came back out and burn one down started. then another hour long set. he is my hero. quelle belle soirée! absolument parfait.
i have to go and get another cancer-inducing chest x-ray this afternoon. oh happy day.
