Hi team... From somebody who has spent too many nights sleeping in African bush (different vibe I`m sure but same principles should apply)... The key things are water proofed bags and both roll-on and spray/incense insect repellant... The roll on is the best thing, especially when you are working/walking around as it doesn`t come off during the day and insects would rather die than come within ten metres of you...Seondly bring extra batteries for your flashlight as the decent torches always use different size batteries to other stuff and it is always the first thing to run out of battery and the one thing you want to run out the least... Also bring a secret extra soap that you don`t show anyone... Bring plasters cause you will cut or bruise yourself and its the one thing I would always forgot and up stubbing a toe in the middle of the Kalahari... Not fun... Also, don`t know if you`re all making your own food but if you are then bring a fork, another thing I always forgot and would end up attempting to fashion out of a branch at night whilst balancing the torch on an oddly shaped rock and praying that I ate my food before the smell caused some animal to come and check what the fuss was all about... Much easier to just bring a fork... Blow-up pillow is also a great idea... I`ll keep thinking... Never thought I would say it but I really do miss camping a little bit...

Id second as MUCH as possible to keep the bugs away. Ive always been immune....until Thailand. Dont doubt the little buggers, theyll eat you, and its so frustrating.
